Mary Brailer

November 4, 1929 — August 23, 2020

Mary Patricia “Pat” Brailer, 90, passes away on Sunday, August 23, 2020, at UPMC Western Maryland.

Born on November 4, 1929, in Vale Summit, she was the daughter of the late J. Leonard and Helen (Rooney) Cain.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Brailer in 2010; brother, James L. Cain and brother-in-law, Joe Robertson.

After graduating from the Ursuline Academy, Pat began working for C & P Telephone but then transferred to Allegany Ballistics Laboratory where she was a telephone operator and retired after 31 years.

She was a member of the Ladies of the Elks, charter member of K of C Ladies Auxiliary, was an avid reader and devotee of the Frostburg Library.  She was a lifelong member of Divine Mercy Parish St. Michael’s Catholic Church where she volunteered over the years.

Surviving are a very special nephew, who was the light of her life, James “Snake” Robertson; nieces, Lee Ann, Cathy Cain, Patti McTigue and great nieces, Cecelia and Evelyn; extended family, Edward and Delores (Lemmert) Lacey and their son James and his wife Rita Lacey; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Robertson, Rosemary Cain. Mary Louise Hotchkiss and husband Tom and their children Diane, Michelle and Jeff; cousins, Sue Hughes, Jack and Peggy Hughes.

Thank you to Karla and Rodney Morgan and their children Donna and Justin, as well as her friend, Kathy Clise for all their help over the years.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Divine Mercy Parish St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Saturday, September 5, 2020, at 11 am with Father Doug Kenney serving as Celebrant. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service 10-11 am.

Interment will be at Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Divine Mercy Parish, 44 E. Main Street, Frostburg, Maryland 21532.
