Mary Kallmyer

Mary Theresa Kallmyer, 92, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at the WMHS Regional Medical Center.

Born on July 20, 1926, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late W. Jennings and Margaret (Byrnes) Shertzer.

In addition to her parents, Mary Theresa was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Charles Franklin Kallmyer; son, Charles “Gregg” Gregory Kallmyer; and brothers, William Shertzer and John Shertzer.

Mrs. Kallmyer was a faithful lifetime member of Divine Mercy Parish St. Michael’s Catholic Church.  She was a graduate of the 1944 Beall High School Class and the Ursuline Academy.  She worked for Prudential Insurance company until the birth of her children.

When healthier, Mary Theresa loved to walk a mile each way every day to daily Mass at St. Michael’s and people would tell her they could set their clocks by her as she passed by their homes.  She loved to bake, and always had something freshly made for anyone who might stop by.  Her grandchildren particularly loved her famous sugar cookies and her summer refresher cake.

Surviving are son, Roch Kallmyer and wife Linda, Ellicott City; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Patricia Kallmyer, Sparks, and Elizabeth Kallmyer, Cockeysville; brother, James P. Shertzer and wife Judy.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg, MD, on Sunday, June 30, 2019, from 4-7 pm.  The Knights of Columbus will pray the Rosary at 6 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Divine Mercy St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Monday, July 1, 2019, at 11 am with Father Ed Hendricks serving as celebrant.

Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
