She enjoyed working at Griffiths in Frostburg for many years and then at the BonTon Department Store for many years as well. She was a Lady of the Elks and although she was never bitten by the golf bug, she enjoyed the 19th hole with Al and friends as they finished a round of golf. She shared many fond memories of time spent at Maplehurst CC and vacations in Myrtle Beach with family and friends.
Orpha enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and her beloved golden retrievers. She loved travelling to Florida, Texas, Ohio and wherever she could find a mall. She loved the open road and many times would be seen cruising around town with one of her dogs as her travelling companion.
Friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave. Frostburg on April 26, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on April 27, 2022 at 12 noon with Mr. Jim Taylor officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Allegany County Animal Shelter
or to UPMC Western MD Hospice Services.
Time spent with Orpha will be remembered with joy. Her smile and laugh, her love of donuts, ice cream and coconut cream pie, her pride in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and her obsession with her “Goldens” are only a few of our favorite things to remember. The most special memory, of course, is her 57 year marriage to our father, Al.
Rest in peace, mom. We love you.
The family would like to give special thanks to Orpha’s caregivers, Lavona, Joyce, Michelle, Molly, Nancy, Cindy and to her wonderful neighbors. We would also like to thank the Progressive Care Unit of UPMC Hospital and the UPMC Western MD Hospice Services for their kindness during this time.
